About Jelly Belly

The origins of Jelly Belly can be traced all the way back to 1869, when Gustav Goelitz began the Gustav Goelitz Confectionery Company. Owned and run by the Goelitz family for generations, the company operated under various names but always made an array of delicious sweets. It wasn’t until the 1960s that the company started making jelly beans, but they were good enough to catch the attention of future president Ronald Reagan. Then, in 1976, in collaboration with candy distributor David Klein, mini jelly beans were made and coined Jelly Belly. Since then, the brand has gone on to dominate the world of jelly beans and sweet lovers have been treated to the joys of more than 100 Jelly Belly flavours and have become an iconic American sweet!
