Why You Should Plan Early For Christmas

Why You Should Plan Early For Christmas

Why Plan Early?

Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year, so planning your seasonal stock early can give you a valuable advantage. You’ll have a better chance of securing popular lines, meeting demand and creating a festive atmosphere that encourages customers to engage and shop.

Introduce the Season & Start Strong

Christmas lines are hugely popular, but they have a limited sales window. Demand rises once Halloween is over, while many shoppers now start even earlier to spread the cost of Christmas. Stocking festive lines sooner gives shoppers more time to buy, helping them spread their Christmas spend over a larger period of time.

Advent calendars are the clearest example. They are among the first festive treats shoppers look for, with demand peaking in November and ending in the first few days of December. Stock them too late and you may have to discount them later in the season. The same principle applies to Christmas tree decorations. From Bonds Candy Canes to Riegelein Milk Chocolate Santas, there are plenty of options for sweet lovers to decorate with. Many customers put up their decorations well before Christmas Day, so make sure the products they want are available early.

Spotlight Seasonal Bestsellers

Every year, there are new products released that shoppers are bound to get excited by. From festive pick n mix sweets and sweet gifts to stocking fillers, there’s always something new and exciting that will catch the eye in your store. Due to their popularity year after year, having a dedicated festive range in store is a great way to supplement your core sales.

Stock up on Essentials

Popular Christmas stock isn’t available year-round. So for Christmas essentials like tins and tubs and festive stocking fillers, it’s best to stock up early before the supply runs out. The more variety you have on your shelves, the better you’ll be able to cater for your customers’ needs.

Make a Festive Impact In-Store

Everyone loves Christmas, and the stock and decorations in your store will be the first signs many customers see this year. Grouping together your seasonal stock will help it to make more of an impact, and it will also get customers thinking about the sweets and chocolates that they want for the festive period. Decking your aisles with a few decorations – no matter how simple – will help to set the tone and get shoppers excited, too! Keep in mind that putting your stock and decorations out won’t necessarily lead to an immediate swell of sales, but you’ll plant the seed and be the first stop when those customers are out shopping for their Christmas sweets.

Be Ready for the Last-minute Rush

Heading deeper into the festive period, there will be a rush of panicked customers who have left their shopping until the last minute. Whilst you may well have planned ahead, the wave of last-minute shoppers could empty your shelves. Keeping an eye on stock levels throughout the period will help to keep your shelves full. Thinking ahead will be beneficial with any stock you need to top up, as there is only ever limited stock for festive lines.
